How does ListMiner find decision-makers?

ListMiner doesn’t rely on a single contact database.

We crawl each company’s website looking for people matching the roles you’ve requested and use AI to determine whether they’re actually relevant decision-makers.

We also match companies against a database of more than 550 million professional profiles to identify people who may not be listed on the company’s website.

But we don’t just pull an old email attached to that profile and call it a day.

Once we’ve identified the right person, ListMiner finds their likely work email and verifies it in real time.

The database helps us answer “Who is the right person?” Our real-time enrichment helps us answer “How can I actually reach them?”

How is ListMiner different from Apollo and other contact databases?

Most B2B data platforms are fundamentally databases. They return contact information that was previously collected and stored.

ListMiner works differently.

You give us the companies you actually want to reach and the roles you’re looking for. We research those companies, identify the right people using multiple sources, and find and verify their emails in real time.

That difference becomes especially important with SMBs and local businesses, where traditional databases often have limited coverage.

We tested this ourselves across a list of 1,000 SMBs. ListMiner found validated named decision-makers at 144 companies versus 82 for Apollo.

We built ListMiner because we needed better data to deliver results for our own clients. We weren’t trying to build another giant database. We wanted infrastructure that could take the exact companies we wanted to target and figure out how to reach them.

Are the emails actually verified in real time?

Yes.

This is one of the most important differences between identifying a person and actually giving you an email you can use.

We may use our professional-profile dataset to determine who the decision-maker is, but we don’t simply trust an email address that was attached to that person months or years ago.

ListMiner finds possible work emails and verifies them during the enrichment process to determine what’s deliverable right now.

And there’s a reason we’re obsessive about this.

In our Apollo benchmark, 98.7% of Apollo’s returned contacts were labeled “Verified,” but only 79.7% passed an independent re-verification.

When you’re actually responsible for sending campaigns and generating opportunities, not just selling data, the difference matters.

Why should I use generic emails like info@ or contact@?

Because for SMBs, they work incredibly well.

This was one of the biggest things we learned running campaigns for our agency, cold.email.

Across our own campaigns, roughly 90% of the opportunities from unique companies come from emails found on company websites rather than our named decision-maker data alone.

Using both sources generates roughly 10X the opportunities for us compared with relying on our named decision-maker data alone.

At first, that might sound counterintuitive. If you’re targeting a 10,000-person corporation, info@ probably isn’t getting you to the CEO.

But SMBs don’t operate like 10,000-person corporations.

At a 5, 10, or 20-person business, that inbox is often monitored by the owner, founder, office manager, or another person directly involved in purchasing decisions.

And the difference in coverage is enormous.

In our 1,000-company SMB test, ListMiner found named decision-makers at 144 companies. When we included emails published on the companies’ own websites, total coverage increased to 570 companies.

More coverage is nice. 10X more opportunities is why we actually use them.

What happens if ListMiner can’t find the exact decision-maker I want?

No data provider has 100% coverage. Neither do we.

The difference is that ListMiner doesn’t give up just because one source doesn’t have the perfect contact.

We use multiple methods to identify decision-makers, find their direct emails, and discover other ways into the company.

If we can’t find a verified direct email for the exact person you requested, we can still return other relevant decision-makers and verified emails published on the company’s own website.

In our 1,000-company test, website emails alone reached 500 companies, including 321 companies that weren’t reachable through a decision-maker email.

For us, the goal isn’t to make a database look big. The goal is to give you the best possible chance of starting a conversation with the company you actually wanted to reach.

We built it because we needed it.

Our business depends on generating opportunities for clients. As we scaled the agency and took on larger contracts, finding enough high-quality decision-maker data became one of the biggest constraints on what we could deliver.

The existing tools weren’t giving us the coverage we needed, particularly with SMBs.

So instead of accepting that, we built our own infrastructure.
